The Zeal Hotel’s concept will offer a sustainable upscale lifestyle hotel brand. The different room types, doubles, twins, execs & bedroom apartments, will cater to both the corporate & leisure markets. The enhanced food & beverage offering will have a distinct ‘local’ flavour.

So, why did we choose Exeter for the first Zeal Hotel?

  • Exeter has a broad mix of private & public sector of employers and is one of the UK’s fastest-growing economies. 

  • Exeter is the centre for business & tourism in Devon, acting as the hub and gateway for the South West region. The growing number of companies locating and re-locating to Exeter and the increase in tourism in the South West has resulted in increased demand for hotel accommodation in the area. 

  • Exeter Science Park (ESP) comprises about 60 acres of development land adjacent to J29 of the M5 motorway. It's accessible, visible & 5 mins from Exeter Airport. Once fully developed, ESP will provide around 822,000 sq. ft of science park buildings for science, technology, engineering, maths, and medicine (STEMM) businesses. 

  • The ESP has excellent sustainability credentials with best-in-class construction techniques, low carbon buildings and energy production, and a large quantity of EV charging points across the park. All buildings on ESP have a significant focus on being developed in a highly sustainable way, and the Zeal Hotel will be achieved, if not surpass, this requirement.  

  • The University of Exeter is home to the UK’s five most influential climate scientists, and Exeter houses more of the world’s top 100 climate scientists than anywhere else in the world. (Reuters Hot List, published on Tuesday, April 20th 2021.

  • Ampaire, a pioneer in hybrid electric aircraft technology, is based at Exeter Airport and has completed recent demonstration flights between Exeter & Newquay airports. The flights are part of a series of government-backed trials to move the UK towards green aviation.
